Construction started in the Fall of 2025, we plan to pave this section of trail in 2026.

Engineering and Fundraising has started for Phase 3 which will be North of Portsmouth. Please feel free to contact Shelby County Trails for additional information.

Events
We host a variety of events including seasonal bike rides and fundraisers throughout the year. We are proud to support a variety of cycling events in our community.

Trail Map
The trail starts at the north end of Panama in Whispering Pines Park – just across State Highway 191 from the Panama ballpark. The south end will be just past the Portsmouth Iowa ballpark about 7 miles away.

Trail Facts
This trail is truly a “grass-roots” efforts. Nearly all funding has come from the local community. Phase I has been completed with no government funding. There have been a handful of small grants from private foundations.
Not all those who wander are lost.
